Founded in 1987, the BBL currently consists of 10 teams from England and Scotland. The league follows a regular season and playoff format, with each team playing a total of 33 games. The top 8 teams from the regular season qualify for the playoffs, where they compete in a knockout tournament to determine the champion. The BBL is known for its high level of athleticism and exciting games, with a number of players going on to play in top leagues around the world. As of 2021, the <a href="/sport-basketball/team-leicester-riders">Leicester Riders</a> are the reigning champions, having won the title for the fourth time in their history.
