The Santos Tour Down Under is Australia’s premier professional cycling race and a regular opening event on the UCI WorldTour calendar. Held each January in South Australia, it brings leading men’s and women’s teams, professional riders, and emerging Australian talent to Adelaide Hills2 and surrounding regions. Rather than taking place in a single stadium, the race unfolds across public roads, with stage starts and finishes hosted in cities, towns, and scenic areas such as the Adelaide Hills. The course combines flat stages suited to sprinters with demanding climbs that test general classification contenders. Teams compete for stage victories, the overall title, and other classifications, while riders work together through tactics, drafting, and coordinated support from teammates. The event also includes community rides and cycling activities, making it a major fixture for fans as well as professional competitors. Known for warm summer conditions, energetic roadside crowds, and routes showcasing South Australia, the Santos Tour Down Under offers a distinctive start to the international cycling season. Fans can follow stage results, team line-ups, rider performances, and race updates throughout the event.
