The Miami Marlins are a Major League Baseball club based in Miami, Florida, competing in the National League East against the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals. Founded in 1993, the franchise has won two World Series championships, in 1997 and 2003, and remains the only team to capture the title in each of its first two postseason appearances. The Marlins also won National League pennants in those championship seasons and have earned multiple Wild Card berths. Their history features notable players including Miguel Cabrera, Giancarlo Stanton, Hanley Ramirez and José Fernández. Pitcher Sandy Alcantara won the National League Cy Young Award in 2022, adding a major individual honor to the club’s record. Miami plays its home games at loanDepot park, a retractable-roof stadium in the Little Havana neighborhood that opened in 2012. The ballpark’s roof helps protect games from South Florida’s heat and rain, while its central Miami location makes it a prominent venue for baseball and other events. Fans can follow the Marlins’ regular-season schedule, postseason pursuits, player statistics and team news throughout the MLB season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team competing in the National League Central Division, with a history dating to their formation as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1882. The franchise has won five World Series championships, in 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971 and 1979, and nine National League pennants. Its most celebrated players include Hall of Famers Honus Wagner, Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell. Clemente earned 12 Gold Glove Awards and was named World Series MVP in 1971, while Stargell shared the National League MVP Award in 1979 and received that year’s World Series MVP honor. The Pirates play their home games at PNC Park, a ballpark on Pittsburgh’s North Shore that opened in 2001 and is known for views of the city skyline and the Allegheny River. The team’s black and gold colors connect it with Pittsburgh’s other major professional sports franchises. Fans follow the Pirates through the MLB regular season and the pursuit of a National League playoff berth, adding new chapters to a tradition shaped by championship teams, standout players and a distinctive home stadium.
