Gil Vicente FC is a professional football club based in Barcelos, northern Portugal, founded in 1924 and named after the Portuguese playwright Gil Vicente. The club competes in the Primeira Liga, Portugal’s top division, and plays its home matches at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, a modern venue with a capacity of approximately 12,000 spectators. Known as the Gilistas, the team has built a strong following in the Minho region and regularly faces Portugal’s leading clubs in league and cup competitions. Gil Vicente’s honours include second-tier league titles, notably the 1998–99 and 2010–11 campaigns, which helped secure promotion to the top flight. The club reached the Taça da Liga semi-finals in the 2021–22 season, a notable result in its recent history. Gil Vicente has also provided a platform for emerging Portuguese and international talent; Spanish forward Fran Navarro was among the team’s standout scorers in the early 2020s, while Japanese midfielder Kanya Fujimoto has been a prominent creative presence. With passionate local support, competitive Primeira Liga performances and a respected development pathway, Gil Vicente FC remains an important part of Portuguese football.

Futebol Clube de Alverca do Ribatejo0, commonly known as FC Alverca do Ribatejo0, is a Portuguese football club based in Alverca do Ribatejo, in the municipality of Vila Alverca do Ribatejo3 de Xira. Founded in 1939, the club plays its home matches at the Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca do Ribatejo0, a venue with a capacity of around 7,700 spectators. Alverca do Ribatejo0 earned promotion to Portugal’s top flight for the 2025–26 season after finishing second in the 2024–25 Liga Portugal 2 campaign, returning to the Primeira Liga after more than two decades away. The club’s earlier top-division spell included a fifth-place finish in 1999–2000, its best league result. Alverca do Ribatejo0 has also competed in Portugal’s lower national divisions and cup competitions, building a reputation for resilience and player development. Former players associated with the club include Deco, who played for Alverca do Ribatejo0 before making his name in European football, and Angolan forward Mantorras. Supporters follow the team in the Primeira Liga and domestic cup tournaments, with the club aiming to establish itself among Portugal’s leading sides.
