The most popular sports in the country include football, swimming, athletics, and handball. Football is by far the most popular sport, and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/team-hungary-1">Hungary</a> regularly competes in the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/competition-fifa-world-cup">FIFA World Cup</a> and the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/competition-uefa-european-championship">UEFA European Championship</a>. The country has come runner-up in two World Cups in 1938 and 1954. Several major events have been hosted in the country, including the 2023 Europa League Final, the 2017 <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-aquatics/competition-world-aquatics-championships">World Aquatics Championships</a>, and games at UEFA Euro 2020. The largest stadium in the country is the Puskás Arena, named after Ferenc Puskás, one of the greatest footballers of all time.
