Brazil is a famous sporting country in South America, well-known for its involvement in many sporting events, most notably football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, motorsport, martial arts, and skateboarding. The country has hosted many international sporting events, such as the 2021 Copa América, the 2016 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the 2014 and 1950 FIFA World Cups. Football is by far the most popular sport in the country, and the men’s national side have won more FIFA World Cups than any other nation, with five, and have produced some of the greatest footballers of all time, including Pelé, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Garrincha, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Romario, Neymar, and Sócrates. Racing drivers Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet, mixed martial artist Anderson Silva, and female footballer Marta all represented Brazil too.
