The Tianjin Open was a professional women’s tennis tournament held in Tianjin, China, from 2014 to 2019. Part of the WTA Tour, it featured singles and doubles competitions on outdoor hard courts at the Tianjin Tuanbo International Tennis Center. Rather than teams in the traditional sense, the event brought together individual players and doubles pairs from around the world, including leading WTA professionals and emerging talents competing for ranking points and prize money. Past singles champions included Alison Riske, Agnieszka Radwańska, Maria Sharapova, Caroline Garcia and Rebecca Peterson, reflecting the tournament’s international field and competitive standard. Typically staged in October, the Tianjin Open offered fans the chance to watch top-level women’s tennis in one of China’s major cities. Its venue was designed to host professional matches and provided courts for both main-draw play and tournament activities. Although the event has not been held since 2019, the Tianjin Open remains part of the WTA Tour’s recent history and is remembered for its hard-court matches, notable champions and role in expanding international tennis in China.
