The Shenzhen Open is a professional tennis tournament held in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, and is best known for its WTA women’s event, played on outdoor hard courts at the Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center. Rather than competing as teams, players represent their countries and compete in singles and doubles draws, with matches attracting leading international professionals and rising tennis talents. The tournament was part of the WTA Tour calendar from 2013 through 2019 and helped launch the women’s tennis season in January. Its champion list includes major names such as Li Na, Simona Halep, Katerina Siniakova and Aryna Sabalenka, reflecting the event’s competitive standard. Shenzhen also hosted a separate ATP men’s tournament, likewise known as the Shenzhen Open, from 2014 to 2018; it was staged at the same sports centre and featured top-ranked men’s players. The Shenzhen Open’s modern venue, hard-court setting and international field made it a notable stop in professional tennis in China.
