The Ostrava Open is a professional tennis tournament held in Ostrava, Czechia, where top women’s players compete in singles and doubles on indoor hard courts. The event has taken place at Ostravar Aréna, a large indoor venue that also hosts concerts and other sporting events. First staged in 2020, the tournament joined the WTA Tour calendar and was classified as a WTA 500 event in 2021 and 2022. Tennis is an individual sport, so the main singles matches feature players rather than teams; doubles pairs compete as two-player teams. Past finalists and champions have included Aryna Sabalenka, Victoria Azarenka, Anett Kontaveit, Maria Sakkari, Barbora Krejcikova and Iga Swiatek. Krejcikova won the 2022 singles title after defeating Swiatek in the final. The Ostrava Open has also offered fans the chance to watch international competitors and Czech players on home soil. Match schedules, draws, results and player information make the tournament a useful reference point for followers of women’s professional tennis in Central Europe. Availability and tournament status can vary by season, so check the current WTA calendar for the latest details.
