The Elite Trophy Zhuhai was a year-end women’s tennis tournament held in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, from 2015 to 2019. Organized by the WTA, it featured 12 singles players and six doubles teams, with places generally awarded to high-ranked players who had not qualified for the WTA Finals, alongside selected wildcards. Singles competition began with round-robin groups before the leading players advanced to the knockout stage, while doubles teams competed in a separate draw. Matches took place at the Hengqin International Tennis Center, a purpose-built venue with a central court designed for major international events. The tournament attracted prominent players from across the WTA Tour, including Petra Kvitová, Venus Williams, Aryna Sabalenka, and Ashleigh Barty, and offered fans a chance to watch elite women’s tennis late in the season. Kvitová won the inaugural singles title in 2016, while Sabalenka claimed the final edition in 2019. Although the Elite Trophy Zhuhai is no longer held, its results, champions, player appearances, and distinctive group format remain part of the event’s tennis history. It is often referenced alongside the WTA Finals as a significant end-of-season competition for top professional players.
