The Chicago Fall Tennis Classic was a women’s professional tennis tournament held in Chicago, Illinois, from September 27 to October 3, 2021. Part of the WTA 500 series, the event brought leading players to the city for a week of singles and doubles competition on outdoor hard courts at XS Tennis Village. The singles draw featured international stars, including Garbiñe Muguruza, Ons Jabeur, Elina Svitolina and Markéta Vondroušová. Spain’s Muguruza won the singles title, defeating Tunisia’s Jabeur in the final after recovering from a set down. In doubles, Hsieh Su-wei and Elise Mertens claimed the championship. Unlike team-based sports, tennis tournaments feature individual players or pairs competing through a knockout draw, with each match determining who advances. The Chicago Fall Tennis Classic provided a high-level stop on the WTA tour during the North American hard-court season and showcased established champions alongside top-ranked contenders. For fans searching for Chicago tennis results, player performances or tournament details, the 2021 event is remembered for Muguruza’s title run and a competitive field at the city’s XS Tennis Village.
