The Ostrava Golden Spike is an annual international athletics meeting held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and one of the country’s best-known track and field events. Staged at the Městský stadion Ostrava-Vítkovice, the competition brings together elite athletes from around the world to race, jump and throw in front of local and international fans. Rather than competing as club teams, athletes generally represent their countries or compete individually in events including sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, long jump, pole vault and javelin, with the programme varying by edition. The meeting is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, placing it among the leading one-day competitions outside the Diamond League. Ostrava has a long athletics tradition, and the Golden Spike has attracted Olympic champions, world champions and record-holders over the years. Its compact stadium setting gives spectators close views of the action, while the event’s international field makes it a popular fixture for sports fans following the global athletics calendar. For visitors, checking the official schedule is the best way to find current event details, athlete entries, ticket information and competition times.
