The Tour de Suisse is Switzerland’s premier professional road cycling stage race and a major fixture on the UCI WorldTour calendar. First held in 1933, the men’s event typically takes place in June and features several days of racing across the country’s varied terrain. Professional cycling teams compete with rosters of riders, often including climbers, sprinters, time-trial specialists and all-rounders, as they pursue stage victories and the overall title. Routes change each year, showcasing Alpine climbs, rolling countryside and Swiss cities, with individual stages ending in different host towns. Unlike football or athletics events, the Tour de Suisse does not use one central stadium: its course, start areas and finish lines move from stage to stage, while spectators watch along public roads. Race standings include the general classification, decided by cumulative time, as well as competitions for stage wins and other classifications. The separate Tour de Suisse Women provides a platform for elite women’s cycling. Fans searching for Tour de Suisse results, riders, teams, stages and route information can follow official race coverage and updates throughout the event.
