The London Triathlon is a major multisport event staged around ExCeL London in the Royal Docks, offering athletes a distinctive urban course beside the River Thames. Rather than taking place in a conventional stadium, the event uses ExCeL as its central venue, with the Royal Victoria Dock hosting the swim and the surrounding roads and waterfront paths forming the cycle and run routes. Race options have varied by edition and may include different distances, making the event accessible to first-time participants as well as experienced triathletes. Competitors race individually, while relay categories allow teams to share the swim, bike and run legs. Elite fields can feature professional athletes, but most participants are amateur sportspeople competing for personal goals, clubs or charity causes. Spectators can watch key sections near the venue and follow the action around the dockside course. For visitors, ExCeL London is served by the Elizabeth line, Docklands Light Railway and other public transport links. Check the event’s official information for the latest race formats, entry details, course maps and dates, as arrangements can change between editions.
