The World Grand Prix is a professional snooker tournament on the World Snooker Tour, bringing together leading players in a fast-paced, televised ranking event. First held in 2015, it is an individual competition rather than a team event, with players contesting frames in a knockout format. Its field has traditionally been selected from the season’s one-year ranking list, rewarding strong performances in tournaments played during the campaign; qualification rules and field size can vary by edition. The event has featured many of snooker’s best-known professionals, including Judd Trump, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, Neil Robertson and Shaun Murphy, alongside emerging contenders seeking a major title. The World Grand Prix does not have a permanent stadium: the host venue changes, with editions staged at locations including the Guild Hall in Preston, the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, the Centaur in Cheltenham and venues in Hong Kong. Match conditions, schedule and ticket details therefore depend on the year’s host city and official tournament announcement. For snooker fans, the World Grand Prix offers high-level competition, ranking points and a valuable test of form as players pursue success across the professional season.
