The China Open is a professional snooker tournament that brought leading players from around the world to Beijing for one of the sport’s major ranking events. First staged in 1997 and revived in 2005, it became an important stop on the World Snooker Tour, featuring individual competition rather than teams. Champions have included household names such as Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry, Mark Selby, Neil Robertson and Judd Trump, while the event also provided a prominent stage for Chinese professionals, including Ding Junhui, to compete before home fans. The tournament was hosted at several Beijing venues over the years, including the Beijing University Students’ Gymnasium and the Beijing Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium; its location varied by edition. The 2019 China Open, won by Neil Robertson, was the most recent edition, and the event has not returned to the tour since.
