Vendée Globe Explore the latest Vendée Globe information at your fingertips

The Vendée Globe is one of sailing’s most demanding sporting events: a solo, nonstop, unassisted race around the world, held approximately every four years. It starts and finishes at Les Sables-d’Olonne on France’s Atlantic coast, where the harbor and race village serve as the event’s public hub rather than a conventional stadium. Each competitor sails an IMOCA 60, a high-performance monohull designed for offshore racing. Although sailors compete individually, professional shore teams prepare boats, analyze weather and provide technical support before the start; once the race begins, outside assistance is prohibited except under strict safety rules. The course takes the fleet south across the Atlantic, around the major southern capes, including the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn, then north through the Atlantic to the finish. Competitors face extreme weather, isolation and equipment challenges, and must navigate thousands of nautical miles without stopping. For fans searching for Vendée Globe results, sailors, boats, route details and race updates, the event offers a compelling showcase of endurance, strategy and ocean sailing.
