The OK Dinghy World Championship is an international sailing competition for single-handed sailors racing in the OK Dinghy, a 4-metre, one-person sailboat designed for tactical, close-fought racing. Unlike team sports, the championship features individual sailors representing their countries and clubs, with results determined by performance across a series of races. Competitors steer and trim their boats themselves, testing boat handling, speed, strategy and decision-making in changing wind and water conditions. The OK Dinghy is a restricted-design class, allowing sailors to select and tune equipment within class rules while keeping the boats broadly comparable. There is no permanent stadium: the world championship is hosted by a different sailing club and venue, with races held on a marked course on open water. Host locations may include coastal waters or sheltered bays, and local conditions can shape race tactics. The event brings together experienced OK Dinghy sailors from across the international sailing community and awards the world title to the highest-performing competitor under the championship scoring rules. For sailing fans, the OK Dinghy World Championship offers a focused look at individual skill, competitive boat design and high-level dinghy racing.
