The ILCA Masters European Championships is an annual sailing competition for experienced adult sailors racing the internationally recognized ILCA dinghy, formerly known as the Laser. The event brings together competitors from across Europe and beyond, who represent their sailing clubs or countries and compete individually rather than as team crews. Races are held in age-based divisions, giving masters sailors a chance to compete against others in comparable categories while following the same class rules and course format. The ILCA is a single-handed boat, so each sailor manages the sails, steering and tactics alone. Instead of a traditional stadium, the championship takes place on a designated racecourse on open water, with the host venue changing from one edition to another. Local conditions—including wind strength, waves and currents—can play a major role in the results. A series of races determines the overall standings, rewarding consistency, boat handling and strategic decision-making. For sailing fans, the ILCA Masters European Championships offers a close look at high-level dinghy racing and the skill of veteran athletes. Event dates, host locations, entry lists and results are published by the organizers for each edition.
