The IRC DH Nationals is a national sailing championship for double-handed crews competing under the IRC (International Rating Certificate) handicap system. Each team consists of two sailors who share the work of steering, sail handling, navigation and race tactics, making communication and teamwork central to performance. Rather than taking place in a traditional stadium, the event is sailed on a marked course in a coastal or offshore venue, with the host location and course varying by edition. Competing boats are rated according to IRC rules, allowing yachts of different designs and sizes to race on a corrected-time basis. The championship typically tests crews across a series of races, where changing wind, sea conditions and tactical decisions can influence the results. Sailors and teams are ranked by their corrected times, with national honours awarded to the top-performing double-handed crew. For fans following IRC DH Nationals sailing, official event notices and race results are the best sources for confirmed venue details, participating boats, crew names, schedules and standings. The championship highlights the skill, endurance and preparation required to race a yacht with only two people aboard.
