The Dun Laoghaire to Dingle sailing race is an offshore yacht event in Ireland, taking crews from Dun Laoghaire Harbour on the east coast to Dingle Harbour in County Kerry. Rather than a stadium-based competition, the race unfolds at sea, with the start and finish harbours providing the key viewing points for spectators. Competing teams sail a demanding coastal route around Ireland’s southern and western shores, where changing weather, tides and sea conditions test navigation, endurance and teamwork. Each yacht is crewed by sailors who share responsibilities such as steering, sail handling and route planning; the participating boats and crew line-ups can vary from one edition to another. The event is associated with the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire and Dingle Sailing Club, and is often referred to as the D2D race. For fans of Irish sailing, offshore yacht racing and competitive sailing events, it offers a distinctive link between two prominent harbour towns. Check the organisers’ latest information for the current race dates, entry list, participating teams and results.
