Cowes-Dinard-St Malo Race Explore the latest Cowes-Dinard-St Malo Race information from Royal Ocean Racing Club Regattas at your fingertips

The Cowes-Dinard-St Malo Race is a classic offshore sailing event that takes crews from Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, across the English Channel to the finish near Saint-Malo, France. Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, the race covers a course of roughly 151 nautical miles, with the route and conditions varying according to the official sailing instructions. Competing teams sail ocean-going yachts and are led by skippers responsible for navigation, sail choice and crew safety. Unlike a field sport, the race has no conventional stadium: its course runs through open water, with the start line at Cowes and the finish in the waters off Saint-Malo. Crews must manage changing winds, tides, traffic and night sailing, making teamwork and tactical decisions central to performance. The event attracts a range of yacht types and experienced amateur and professional sailors, with results determined under the race’s applicable handicap and class rules. For sailing fans, the Cowes-Dinard-St Malo Race combines British and French maritime traditions in a demanding Channel crossing and is a notable fixture on the offshore racing calendar.
