The FISA Americas Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta is a continental rowing competition where national teams from across the Americas race for places at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Organized under the international rowing federation, now known as World Rowing, the regatta brings together elite athletes representing their countries in boats ranging from single sculls to larger crew events. Olympic qualification races feature men’s and women’s categories, while the Paralympic programme includes para rowing events for eligible athletes. Rather than a conventional stadium, the competition takes place on a purpose-built or otherwise suitable rowing course, with marked lanes, a start line and a finish area for officials and spectators. The host city and venue can change by edition, so event schedules and course details should be checked for the relevant year. Results determine which crews earn continental qualification places; the exact number and allocation depend on the applicable Olympic and Paralympic qualification rules. For rowing fans, the regatta offers a focused look at national team selection, international competition and the athletes aiming to represent the Americas on the world’s biggest sporting stage. It is an important stop on the road to the Games and a key event in the regional rowing calendar.
