THE PLAYERS Championship is an annual professional golf tournament held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Often called “golf’s fifth major,” the event is organized by the PGA Tour and played on the Stadium Course, a Pete Dye design known for its challenging layout and the famous island green on the par-3 17th hole. Unlike team-based sports, THE PLAYERS Championship is an individual stroke-play competition: golfers aim to complete 72 holes in the fewest strokes, with a cut determining who advances to the weekend rounds. The tournament field typically features leading PGA Tour players, including major champions, top-ranked golfers and other tour qualifiers. Past champions include Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. The winner receives the iconic PLAYERS trophy, a significant prize and valuable FedExCup points. With its strong field, dramatic finishes and distinctive course, THE PLAYERS Championship is one of the most prominent events on the professional golf calendar. Fans can follow tournament updates, tee times, player results and coverage from the Stadium Course throughout competition week.
