The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, also known as The Senior Open Championship, is a leading professional golf tournament for players aged 50 and over. Founded in 1987, it is one of the major championships in senior men’s golf and is organized by The R&A. The event is an individual stroke-play competition, not a team tournament: golfers play four rounds over 72 holes, with the lowest total score taking the title. Its field brings together accomplished senior professionals from around the world, including past champions and notable players such as Bernhard Langer, Darren Clarke, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Padraig Harrington. Rather than a fixed stadium, The Senior Open rotates among established links and championship golf courses in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Past venues have included Sunningdale, Royal Porthcawl, Carnoustie and St Andrews, each presenting its own demands of course strategy, weather and precision. Rolex has served as the title sponsor since 2008, giving the tournament its familiar official name. With its international field, historic courses and high-level competition, The Senior Open Presented by Rolex is a key fixture on the senior golf calendar.
