The Senior PGA Championship is one of professional golf’s premier events for players aged 50 and older, bringing together an international field of experienced senior golfers to compete for a major title. Founded in 1937 and organized by the PGA of America, it is widely recognized as the oldest major championship in senior golf. The tournament is an individual competition rather than a team event, and players typically contest 72 holes of stroke play over four rounds. Its venue changes from year to year, with the championship hosted at leading golf courses across the United States; unlike a traditional stadium sport, the course itself provides the playing arena, with galleries following the action across fairways and greens. The rotating venues test driving accuracy, course management, and putting, while offering a different challenge in each edition. Past champions include celebrated names such as Sam Snead, Hale Irwin, and Bernhard Langer, whose achievements have helped shape the event’s history. For golf fans, the Senior PGA Championship combines elite competition, notable players, and a showcase of championship-course design, making it a key fixture on the senior golf calendar.
