The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is the premier professional women's soccer league in the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-baseball/team-united-states">United States</a>. Founded in 2012, the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/competition-nwsl">NWSL</a> currently consists of 10 teams including the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/team-portland-thorns-fc">Portland Thorns FC</a>, <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/team-washington-spirit">Washington Spirit</a>, and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/team-north-carolina-courage">North Carolina Courage</a>. The league features top talent from around the world, including U.S. Women's <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-american-football/team-national-team">National Team</a> players like Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Carli Lloyd. These elite athletes compete in a 24-game season that culminates in a single-elimination playoff to determine the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/competition-nwsl">NWSL</a> champion. The league's championship match, known as the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-football/competition-nwsl">NWSL</a> Championship, is held at a neutral site each year. Previous venues have included <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-providence-park">Providence Park</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/country-united-states/city-portland-1">Portland</a> and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-wakemed-soccer-park">WakeMed Soccer Park</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-cary">Cary</a>, <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-north-carolina">North Carolina</a>, demonstrating the league's commitment to showcasing its teams and players in top-of-the-line stadiums.
