Duel 1 at DAYTONA is the first of two NASCAR Cup Series qualifying races held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, ahead of the Daytona 500. The 2.5-mile superspeedway’s steeply banked tri-oval creates close pack racing, where drafting, pit strategy and teamwork can shape the outcome. The race is typically 60 laps, or 150 miles, and features drivers representing NASCAR teams such as Hendrick Motorsports, Team Penske, Joe Gibbs Racing and 23XI Racing, with the field changing each season. Duel 1 helps determine starting positions for the Daytona 500, while the results also give eligible open teams an opportunity to secure a place in the marquee race. Its starting lineup is based on Daytona 500 qualifying procedures, and the companion Duel 2 completes the qualifying-race format. Fans follow Duel 1 for its high-speed competition, meaningful grid implications and early-season showcase of drivers and teams. For schedules, entry lists, results and event updates, check the relevant season’s official NASCAR information, since participants and race details can vary from year to year.
