The Bluegreen Vacations Duel was NASCAR Cup Series’ pair of qualifying races held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, ahead of the Daytona 500. Sponsored by Bluegreen Vacations from 2020 through 2022, the event featured two 150-mile races, each typically run over 60 laps on the track’s 2.5-mile high-banked tri-oval. Drivers representing NASCAR teams raced for starting positions in the Daytona 500, making the Duels an important part of the sport’s annual Speedweeks schedule. The results generally set the starting order for most of the 500-car field, while qualifying speeds and NASCAR’s rules determine the front row and placement of eligible open teams. The close, high-speed pack racing associated with Daytona creates drafting partnerships, intense side-by-side battles and a risk of multi-car incidents, giving fans a preview of the main event. Although the Bluegreen Vacations name was used for a limited period, the qualifying races continued under the shorter name “the Duels.” Fans searching for Bluegreen Vacations Duel information can explore its Daytona setting, NASCAR Cup Series drivers, participating teams, race format and connection to the Daytona 500.
