The Valencia Marathon, officially known in recent editions as the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Marathon, is a major annual road-running event held in Valencia, Spain. Run over the standard marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres, the race attracts elite international athletes and thousands of recreational runners. Unlike a stadium-based team sport, it has no competing teams or fixed roster of players; participants race individually, with elite fields often including leading men’s and women’s distance runners. The largely flat urban course passes through streets and landmarks across the city, with the City of Arts and Sciences serving as the event’s start and finish area. Its fast route and typically favourable race conditions have helped make Valencia a popular destination for athletes targeting personal bests and competitive times. The event is generally staged in December and is recognised as one of Europe’s prominent road races. Spectators can follow the runners at points along the course, while the distinctive finish by the City of Arts and Sciences provides a memorable setting for the final kilometres. For marathon results, course information, elite athletes and event updates, Valencia’s race is a leading fixture on the international running calendar.
