The ANA Inspiration was a major championship on the LPGA Tour, bringing together the world’s leading women golfers in a 72-hole stroke-play competition. Played under that name from 2015 through 2021, the tournament was the latest chapter in an event founded in 1972 and known previously as the Kraft Nabisco Championship and the Dinah Shore. Its historic home was the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, where the champion traditionally celebrated by jumping into Poppie’s Pond beside the 18th green. The field featured elite individual players rather than teams, with competitors earning places through tour status, qualifying criteria and other exemptions. Notable champions included Annika Sörenstam, Lorena Ochoa, Lydia Ko and Patty Tavatanakit, who won in 2021. Jennifer Kupcho claimed the 2022 title, the tournament’s final edition under the ANA Inspiration name at Mission Hills. In 2022, Chevron became title sponsor, and the major was renamed the Chevron Championship. This history makes the ANA Inspiration an important search topic for golf fans following LPGA majors, championship records, past winners and the evolution of women’s professional golf.
