The Laver Cup is an international men’s tennis team competition that pits Team Europe against Team World in a three-day event held annually, usually on an indoor hard court. Founded in 2017, the tournament features six players on each team, selected by their captains, and combines singles and doubles matches across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Points increase each day, making the final day especially important: Friday wins count for one point, Saturday wins for two and Sunday wins for three. The first team to reach 13 points wins the Cup. Matches are played in a purpose-built stadium setting, with the host city and venue changing between editions. Past venues include The O2 in London, TD Garden in Boston and Uber Arena in Berlin; the 2025 event is scheduled for Chase Center in San Francisco. The competition has brought together leading players such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray for Team Europe, and John Isner, Jack Sock and Taylor Fritz for Team World. With elite tennis, team strategy and a rotating international venue, the Laver Cup offers a distinctive format on the professional tennis calendar.
