The Randox Topham is a major British horse-racing event held at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool during the Randox Grand National Festival. Officially run as the Topham Handicap Chase, it is a Grade 3 steeplechase in which horses, jockeys and trainers from racing yards across Britain and Ireland compete for victory. The race covers approximately two miles and five furlongs and features 19 fences, including Aintree’s famous Grand National obstacles. As a handicap, each horse carries a weight assigned according to its assessed ability, helping create a competitive contest across the field. The Topham is traditionally staged on the Friday of the three-day festival, one day before the Grand National, and attracts a large audience at the course and on television. Its demanding fences and fast pace make jumping accuracy, stamina and sound race tactics essential for both horses and riders. First run in 1949, the race is named after Frank Topham, a former Aintree manager. For fans searching for Aintree racing, Topham Chase runners, jockeys, results and race details, the event offers a distinctive highlight of the Grand National meeting.
