The JLT Melling Chase is a Grade 1 steeplechase held at Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool, England, during the Grand National Festival. Run over approximately two miles and four furlongs, the race tests speed, stamina and jumping ability as horses tackle a series of fences on Aintree’s Mildmay course. Its competitive field features leading National Hunt horses, ridden by professional jockeys and prepared by trainers from across Britain and Ireland. The Melling Chase is traditionally staged on the Friday of the three-day festival, offering a major contest before the Grand National itself. Its roll of honour includes accomplished chasers who have excelled over intermediate distances, making the event a useful test of form for racing fans and analysts. Although sponsorship and race naming can change between seasons, “JLT Melling Chase” remains a familiar name associated with this high-profile Aintree fixture. For visitors, the race combines elite jump racing with the atmosphere of one of the sport’s best-known meetings. Follow entries, runners, jockeys, trainers and results to keep up with the latest Melling Chase news.
