The Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle is a Grade 1 horse-racing event associated with the Cheltenham Festival in Gloucestershire, England. Run over approximately two miles and five furlongs, the race tests novice hurdlers on Cheltenham Racecourse’s demanding New Course, where stamina, jumping accuracy and a strong finish are essential. Its competitors are horses, rather than teams, with each entry representing an owner and being prepared by a trainer and ridden by a jockey. The event has served as an important proving ground for emerging National Hunt talent, and past winners have often progressed to major hurdles and championship races. The Ballymore name was used for this festival contest from 2018 through 2023; race sponsorship and naming can change between seasons, so current listings should be checked when following a particular year’s programme. Fans can look for race-day details, declared runners, jockey and trainer information, results and betting updates through official Cheltenham Festival coverage. For followers of British jump racing, the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle offers a compelling early measure of which novice horses may develop into future festival stars.
