The Genesys 300 is an IndyCar Series race held at Texas Motor Speedway, a 1.5-mile, high-banked oval in Fort Worth, Texas. The event’s 300-mile distance makes it a fast, demanding contest where drivers balance speed, tire wear and traffic while navigating the track’s sweeping turns. The 2020 Genesys 300 was the first IndyCar race after the series paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic; it ran as a single-day event without spectators. Scott Dixon won for Chip Ganassi Racing, ahead of Simon Pagenaud of Team Penske and Josef Newgarden, also driving for Penske. In 2021, Dixon again took victory in the Genesys 300, leading a strong field that included Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren SP and Newgarden. Texas Motor Speedway’s grandstands, illuminated track and close racing have made it a distinctive stop on the IndyCar calendar.
