The Cape Town E-Prix brought the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to South Africa for the first time on 25 February 2023. The all-electric motorsport race took place on a 2.921-kilometre street circuit in the Green Point area, close to Cape Town Stadium, also known as DHL Stadium; the stadium served as a nearby landmark rather than the racing venue. Featuring 11 teams and 22 drivers, the grid included Porsche, Jaguar TCS Racing, Envision Racing, DS Penske, Nissan, Mahindra Racing and NEOM McLaren. South African driver Kelvin van der Linde competed for ABT CUPRA, adding local interest to the international field. The 12-turn circuit was known for its fast sections and striking views of Table Mountain, while its tight corners challenged drivers’ energy management and racecraft. António Félix da Costa of TAG Heuer Porsche won the inaugural Cape Town E-Prix, ahead of Jean-Éric Vergne of DS Penske and Nick Cassidy of Envision Racing. The event is notable as Formula E’s first Cape Town race and a landmark for international electric motorsport in South Africa. Fans searching for Cape Town E-Prix results, teams, drivers and venue information can use this race as a key reference.
