The Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes is a prestigious Group 1 flat horse race held at Newmarket Racecourse in Suffolk, England. Run on the July Course during the Newmarket July Festival, the contest covers one mile on turf and is open to fillies and mares aged three and older. Unlike team sports, the race features individual horses, each partnered by a jockey and prepared by a trainer, with owners and racing yards also central to the competition. The straight mile course tests speed, stamina and positioning, and the field typically includes leading British and international runners. As a major midsummer event in the horse racing calendar, the Falmouth Stakes can provide an important measure of form among the season’s top fillies and mares. Its roll of honour includes accomplished performers such as Goldikova, who won the race in 2009 and 2010. Tattersalls, the international bloodstock auction company, sponsors the event, while Newmarket’s July Course provides the sporting venue and spectator setting. For race fans following results, entries, jockeys and previews, the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes is a highlight of elite flat racing.
