The Princess <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/country-australia/city-elizabeth-1">Elizabeth</a> Stakes is a British flat horse race held at <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-epsom-downs-racecourse">Epsom Downs Racecourse</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-surrey">Surrey</a>, <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-cricket/team-england-1">England</a>, one of the country’s best-known venues and home of the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-epsom">Epsom</a> <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-derby">Derby</a> and Oaks. Run over one mile and 113 yards, the Group 3 contest is open to fillies and mares aged three and older and is traditionally staged in June during the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-derby">Derby</a> Festival. Rather than competing teams, the field comprises individual racehorses, each paired with a jockey and supported by a trainer and stable. The <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-epsom">Epsom</a> course’s undulating layout and sharp turns make balance, pace and positioning important, giving the race a distinctive test for both horses and riders. The event is named for Princess <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/country-australia/city-elizabeth-1">Elizabeth</a>, who later became Queen <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/country-australia/city-elizabeth-1">Elizabeth</a> II, and has a long place in the British racing calendar. Fans can follow entries, runners, jockey bookings, race results and the latest Princess <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/country-australia/city-elizabeth-1">Elizabeth</a> Stakes news through race-day coverage. As a Group 3 fixture, it offers a competitive opportunity for established performers and emerging talent among Britain’s fillies and mares, while adding quality to Epsom’s prominent summer meeting.
