The Mile, officially known as the Hong Kong Mile, is a premier thoroughbred horse race held at Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong. Run over 1,600 metres on turf, the Group 1 contest is a highlight of the annual Hong Kong International Races, attracting leading milers from Hong Kong and around the world. Rather than teams, the competitors are individual horses, guided by jockeys and supported by trainers, owners and stable staff. The race tests speed, positioning and stamina, with the field navigating Sha Tin’s turf course before a decisive finish down the home straight. International challengers face established local stars, creating a competitive lineup that reflects the global depth of mile racing. The Hong Kong Mile is part of the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races and is typically staged in December. Fans can follow entries, jockey assignments, race-day schedules and results through official racing channels. For visitors, Sha Tin Racecourse provides the venue for live action, while broadcasts bring the event to audiences worldwide. With elite horses, top jockeys and a prestigious Group 1 title, the Hong Kong Mile is a major fixture on the international horse-racing calendar.
