The Chipchase Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race staged at Newcastle Racecourse in Northumberland, England, as part of the summer Northumberland Plate Festival, usually held in late June. Run over six furlongs on the turf course, it is open to horses aged three and older and is a notable test for sprinters seeking success at the highest level. Rather than teams, the contest features individual horses, ridden by jockeys and prepared by trainers, with owners and racing yards also represented in the field. The short distance rewards speed, sharp positioning and sound race tactics, while Newcastle’s broad track gives horses room to compete for a clear run. As a recognised British Pattern race, the Chipchase Stakes can attract established Group performers as well as promising sprinters aiming to strengthen their records. Racegoers attending the meeting can enjoy a competitive day of flat racing at one of the country’s best-known racecourses. For fans following British horse racing, the Chipchase Stakes offers a useful opportunity to compare leading sprinting form, jockey bookings and trainer performance during an important fixture in the racing calendar.
