The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is one of the world’s leading thoroughbred horse races, held each year at ParisLongchamp Racecourse in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris. First run in 1920, the prestigious Group 1 contest is staged over 2,400 metres on turf and brings together elite three-year-old and older horses from France and international racing nations. Rather than teams, the event’s competitors are individual horses, ridden by professional jockeys and supported by trainers, owners and racing staff. The course’s demanding turns and long finishing straight test speed, stamina and race tactics, making positioning and timing crucial. Usually scheduled for the first Sunday in October, the Arc is the centrepiece of a major weekend of racing organized by France Galop. Its field often features classic winners and established champions, while the result can shape reputations and breeding value across the sport. With its historic setting, world-class runners and substantial prize money, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe attracts racing fans and visitors from around the globe and remains a landmark event on the international horse racing calendar.
