The Preakness Stakes is an annual horse racing event held at <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-pimlico-race-course">Pimlico Race Course</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-baltimore">Baltimore</a>, <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-basketball/team-maryland-1">Maryland</a>. This highly anticipated event is the second leg in the prestigious Triple Crown series, which also includes the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-basketball/team-kentucky-1">Kentucky</a> <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-derby">Derby</a> and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-basketball/team-belmont">Belmont</a> Stakes. The race is open to three-year-old Thoroughbred horses and has a distance of 1 3/16 miles. Some of the top horses in the race have gone on to become legendary names in the sport, such as Secretariat and American Pharoah. The race also attracts top jockeys and trainers, including Hall of Famers like Bob Baffert and Todd Pletcher. With a rich history dating back to 1873, the Preakness Stakes is a must-see for any horse racing fan and is known as the "Run for the Black-Eyed Susans" due to the blanket of flowers traditionally draped over the winner.
