The European Athletics Team Championships is a major international track and field competition where national teams from across Europe compete for team honors. Athletes represent their countries in events including sprints, distance running, hurdles, relays, jumps and throws, with both men and women contributing points to the overall standings. Rather than focusing solely on individual medals, the championship rewards consistent performances across the full program: points are awarded according to each athlete’s finishing position, and the national team with the strongest combined score leads the competition. Participating countries and division lineups can change between editions, giving emerging athletes the chance to compete alongside established stars. The event is staged at a host city’s athletics stadium, so the venue varies by year; the track and field facilities provide space for running events, field competitions and spectator viewing. For fans following European athletics, the championships offer a clear comparison of national strength, memorable head-to-head contests and an opportunity to watch leading European athletes compete in a team-focused format. Check the latest edition’s schedule and results for confirmed teams, athletes and stadium details.
