The European Athletics Championships is a major international track and field competition organized by European Athletics, bringing together national teams from across Europe. Held every two years, the championships feature elite athletes competing for medals in events such as the 100 metres, distance running, hurdles, relays, long jump, high jump, pole vault, throws, and combined events. Each participating country selects its athletes, so the competition showcases individual performances as well as national team standings and relay rivalries. Unlike a league hosted at one permanent ground, the event moves between cities, and its stadium changes with each edition. The main athletics programme is staged in a large stadium equipped with a standard outdoor track, seating for spectators, and facilities for field events. The championship may also include road races, such as the marathon and race walking, held on city streets or designated courses. Fans can follow medal results, records, schedules, participating countries, and athlete profiles throughout the competition. As one of the sport’s leading continental events, the European Athletics Championships offers a clear view of Europe’s top track and field talent and provides a pathway to wider international competition.
