The Scottish Open, officially known as the Genesis Scottish Open, is a leading professional golf tournament held each summer in Scotland. First played in 1972, it is part of the DP World Tour and, since 2022, has also been co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour. The event is played by individual golfers rather than teams, bringing together leading international players and rising talent in a 72-hole stroke-play competition. The field typically includes stars preparing for The Open Championship, which follows soon afterward. Since 2019, the tournament has usually been hosted at The Renaissance Club, a championship links course near North Berwick in East Lothian. Rather than a traditional stadium, the venue features coastal fairways, natural dunes, deep bunkers and changing weather that can challenge even the world’s best golfers. Spectators can follow the action across the course, while television coverage reaches golf fans around the world. Known for its strong field, Scottish links setting and place on the summer golf calendar, the Scottish Open is one of Europe’s most prominent tournaments and a key stop for players pursuing tour titles and major-championship form.
