The Nedbank Golf Challenge is a professional golf tournament held at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa. Often called “Africa’s Major,” the event has been played at the resort since 1981 and is one of the best-known stops on the DP World Tour schedule. The course, designed by Gary Player, is a par-72 layout set among the hills and wildlife of the Pilanesberg region, with demanding hazards and a signature atmosphere for players and spectators. The competition is an individual stroke-play event rather than a team tournament: professional golfers aim to complete 72 holes in the fewest strokes, with the lowest total winning the title. Its field typically includes leading international players alongside prominent South African professionals, although the lineup can change from year to year. The tournament has attracted major champions and established stars, helping raise the profile of golf in South Africa and across the continent. For fans following the Nedbank Golf Challenge, the course setting, elite field and long history combine to make this Sun City sporting event a distinctive fixture in professional golf.
