The Cyprus Showdown was a professional golf tournament on the European Tour, staged in 2020 at Aphrodite Hills Resort in Paphos, Cyprus. Played on the resort’s PGA National Cyprus course, the event brought an international field of individual players together for a distinctive three-round competition; golfers did not compete as teams. Its format made the tournament especially compelling: after 36 holes, the leading 32 players and ties advanced, and their scores were reset for the final round, giving qualifiers a fresh chance to contend for the title. The shortened event rewarded strong play under pressure and kept the leaderboard open until the closing holes. English golfer Callum Shinkwin won the inaugural Cyprus Showdown, finishing ahead of Kalle Samooja and other leading contenders. Aphrodite Hills provided a scenic Mediterranean setting, with a championship course designed to test accuracy and course management. For golf fans researching the Cyprus Showdown, the tournament is notable for its unusual reset format, European Tour field and high-profile setting in Paphos. Although it was a one-off event, it remains a memorable chapter in Cyprus’s international golf calendar.
