The Chile Open is a professional men’s tennis tournament on the ATP Tour, staged in Santiago, Chile. Also known as the Movistar Chile Open, it is an ATP 250 event played on outdoor clay courts, making it an important stop in the South American clay-court swing. Matches take place at the Club Deportivo Universidad Católica in the San Carlos de Apoquindo district, with the tournament’s central court named in honor of Chilean tennis great Jaime Fillol. Unlike a team competition, the Chile Open features individual singles and doubles draws, bringing together international professionals and local favorites. Chilean players such as Nicolás Jarry, Cristian Garín and Alejandro Tabilo have attracted strong home support, while visiting contenders compete for ATP ranking points and the title. The tournament returned to the ATP calendar in 2020, reviving a Santiago event with a history dating back to the 1990s. With its clay surface, high-altitude setting and enthusiastic crowds, the Chile Open offers a distinctive test for players and a major annual fixture for tennis fans following South American sport.
