The Canadian Open, officially known as the National Bank Open, is one of the world’s oldest professional tennis tournaments, with a history dating to 1881. As a major stop on the <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-tennis/competition-atp-tour">ATP Tour</a> and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-tennis/competition-wta-tour">WTA Tour</a>, it brings together leading men’s and women’s singles and doubles players on outdoor hard courts. The event alternates between <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-toronto">Toronto</a> and <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-ice-hockey/team-montreal">Montreal</a> each year: the men compete at <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-sobeys-stadium">Sobeys Stadium</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/city-toronto">Toronto</a>, while the women play at <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/stadium-iga-stadium">IGA Stadium</a> in <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-ice-hockey/team-montreal">Montreal</a>, with the host cities switching for the following edition. This format gives fans across <a href="https://www.fixturecalendar.com/sport-ice-hockey/team-canada-1">Canada</a> the chance to watch top-ranked stars, rising challengers and accomplished doubles teams compete for important tour titles. The tournament is part of the North American hard-court season that leads into the US Open, making it a significant test of form and fitness. Known for energetic crowds and high-level international tennis, the Canadian Open combines a long sporting tradition with modern competition.
